    Awesome addition for my workout!
This weight vest has taken my workouts to another level! I mean, I could probably up the difficulty of my calisthenics workouts with changes in body positioning… but I’m too lazy to research that right now and this weight vest just lets me do a lot of the same movements but with added difficulty! 🙂 I’ll transition to more difficulty movements eventually, but I feel like the weight vest is a quick “easy” way to add to the progression. The vest itself is super easy to configure and very sturdy. I definitely feel this will last me a very long time.

… first review I’ve written on Amazon but I feel like this product deserves it
So this is the first review I’ve written on Amazon but I feel like this product deserves it. This thing is solid as a rock, everything about it is perfect… It’s comfortable and adjustable to fit just about anyone, the weights are 2.5lb “stones” that can be inserted/removed with ease (this is a huge benefit because some other weight vests use bags of sand or iron ore so if the bag breaks, you have a huge mess on your hands), and it just looks cooler than most weight vests I’ve seen. The best part about it is definitely the comfortability. I got the narrow shoulder version because I wanted to use it for pull-ups and it doesn’t get in the way of my movements at all (granted I have somewhat broad shoulders). I would recommend this to anyone who thinks bodyweight exercises have just gotten too easy for them. You won’t regret it!

  11. Richard Passmore

    Very good vest
I got this so I can start training for a really big hike I want to do this summer. The 16 individual weights are 2.5 pounds each and go in and out of the holders fairly easily. The one complaint I have is the strap to hold it on… It’s bulky and, kind of hard to deal with by yourself. I found the instructions to be rather terse and not very helpful – however, I think I found something that’ll work.

fits perfect and is very comfortable, weight is even on both sides. perfect for walking sprints and climbing. I wear during my work out and it makes me sweat a lot of water weight also.

  13. Deep Singh

    Much better than a ruck.
Great vest, nice not having to carry a ruck anymore.

    Great Product
The V-Force vest is excellent. I have worn it to do enhance body weight resistance exercises as well as to go running. It fits snug and does not bounch around causing any additional stress on the shoulders. It does not rub or iritate the skin either. Outstanding product.

    Easy to put on
This vest is extremely well made and you can see how it will last a while. Easy to put on, fasten and to subtract weights from. One thing that’s a little weird; when you get it, it looks like the logo is screwed up or damaged, like maybe the vest is a return or something. But when you take a closer look on the company web site, you see that it’s intentional. Also, when you fasten it snugly, it does restrict your breathing slightly. I would recommend for someone who is new to weight vests to start out with 10 or 15 lbs and build from there. 40lbs is too jarring to your body initially.High quality product.

It seems to work fine. Narrow straps and ability to adjust weight is great

    Very hurtful to trapezius.
The straps are too narrow, both in width of the strap itself, and in placement on the shoulders. I debated this vest versus the 40 lb. V-Force short vest. I’m 5’9″ and 175 lbs and fairly trim, weight training work out 4-5 times per week, with some hiking and inline skating. I knew from online research that weight vests are all going to be uncomfortable on the shoulders with use; that I was expecting. I use mine for adding weight to Farmer’s Walks, Chins and Pull-ups, dumbbell calf raises, etc. Only a few of my exercises are overhead, but, as that was what this was meant for, I thought I’d try it out. I have medium width shoulders, and wear a size 40 regular suit jacket.Well, the issue here is that, not only are the straps narrower than the standard model (these 2.25″ wide versus 3.25″ wide on standard, as I recall; check me on that), the straps sit higher on the collarbones. Look at the photo–the straps rest right on the “meat” of the trapezius muscles. If it was with more spread, that is the U-neck was wider, then they could be closer to my acromio-clavicular joints (yet not right on them) and may be more comfortable. Note: I have never tried the Standard version to know, only this version. The chest strap, even when tight, adds little to the support of the entire vest once one is moving.Bottom line, I think this is not a great vest for overhead activities because of the fit issues. Maybe, just maybe, if someone is wicked thin, like a tall and gangly fellow, this might be okay on them and the straps hit right, and maybe for them the wider standard straps would fall off the edges of their shoulders, I don;t know. But for average build people, especially if they have some traps (yes, I do my shrugs), this is going to catch your “meat”. Wearing it fully loaded at 40 pounds for over 10 minutes is excruciating. Sure, one can take it off between sets but, honestly, until you’ve donned and doffed a weight vest, you might not appreciate that it’s quite different than removing a dinner jacket.I would not buy this particular model again, although I would buy this brand. Note: the construction is impeccable, and this is clearly the best weight vest available. It’s just hard to order without trying it on (and I did contact the company by phone before ordering to go over my needs and was instructed that this is the models to get). I am considering wearing BMX shoulder pads to better distribute the weight, or, at the very least, will add closed-cell foam padding underneath each strap.I have no clue if the standard version would be better for me. I have no idea if this quirky fit is just on my body, although I think I’m a pretty normal fit build. Few other reviews on Amazon mention the pain from the straps, yet even the customer service rep at WeightVest home told me, by phone, that is the compromise for improved overhead range of motion: some potential strap pain. If you search the online forums, others mention the pain, too. I can only speak to the fact that I will not be playing basketball in this thing. lol. I know it’s a tough decision to know which model to buy since we can’t try them on in person, and returning a 40# leaded weight vest is going to cost a small fortune. So, I wanted to give some measurements (mine) that might help someone out there. It’s a great vest when I use smaller weights in it (eg 15# I can wear for 30 minutes or more). Additionally, if one is doing horizontal exercises, such as push ups, the pain is minimal as the weight is now through one’s back.

Awesome vest. Very well constructed with quality materials. I may be buying another in the near future.

    40 pound V-Force
04-05-2021. I bought the 40 pound V-Force vest from weightvest.com about a month ago. It has the wide 4.25 inch shoulders.

I like the wide 4.25 inch shoulders because I use the vest mainly for my walk every morning for 40 minutes. The weight is about 18% of my body weight, which is plenty for going up and down the hills for 40 minutes. An excellent all around exercise that affects me all day long. The 4.25 inch shoulders helps distribute the weight across a wider shoulder area.

The vest fits well and is very comfortable.

I have other weight vests. The V-Force vests are the highest quality. They are built to last a lifetime. They are well worth the investment.

I plan to buy another one or two of the V-Force vests for other family members.

First off, I’m so glad these are made to order right here in the USA! (it’s a deal breaker for me)

I just got my 40lbs vest with 3.25″ shoulder straps and have only had a chance to use it once. More weight would be nice for my 200lbs. frame, but the smaller size of this vest makes me think it will get used more than if I had purchased a bulkier vest with more weight capacity.

It works great for everything in my resistance training routine: pushups, pull-ups and barbell work. I also plan on using it for hiking in the mountains and will maybe even try it on the mountain bike.

My son has had the same 40lbs V-Force vest (but with narrow shoulder straps) for over a year now and loves it. He uses his several times per week and it genuinely still looks like new. These are clearly well made vests built to hold up to real use. Other companies take advantage of patriots by charging high prices for American made goods that are not built well, but that’s not the case here. I haven’t had a need to utilize the warranty service, but I have no doubt they’ll stand behind their product if it’s ever required.

Thanks for making these available for a fair price with great build quality!

40 LB V-FORCE® Short Weight Vest – Narrow 3.25″ Shoulders
Purchased this particular vest for calisthenics because of the narrow shoulders. It has worked great and is more comfortable than I anticipated it would be. The quality of the vest is apparent and it is made stateside which is a plus. I like the fact that the weights are removable, so I can make this approximately a 20lb or 30lb or the full 40lb weight vest in order to reduce or increase the intensity of my workout.

Interestingly, I have used this vest more for walking than for calisthenics. My best friend needed a walking buddy on her 2 mile walks and while she got a workout, I did not, so I decided to add the vest and quickly came to realize why the wide shoulders are recommended for walking and or running. I will most probably be purchasing another vest but one with wide shoulders to rescue my traps.

Kudos to the whole team at WeightVest for making a reliable product. It appears that a lot of time went to designing this vest. I especially like the adjustment straps and how they attach to the front of the vest with the clip, adjustable both on the sides and in front. I spent hours online researching for the right vest and I am glad I decided to buy this one. Still on the fence? Pull the trigger, you won’t regret it. I am also glad the wide shoulder version of this vest is now available in Typhon.

Solid Product Made in the U.S.
I’m accustomed to the Walmart-sold Gold’s Gym weight vest I’ve had for years. Granted, it served its purpose, but it’s tough to know what you’re missing out on if you’ve never had anything to compare it to. The Gold’s Gym vest was bulky, tougher to move around with and it was too long for my liking.

When I initially texted Jeff, I was looking for a quality vest to do your basic calisthenics movements with: Pullups, dips, pushups, etc. Most importantly, I was seeking a vest that was *comfortable*. This specific model fits AMAZING. This video helped me properly navigate the belt adjustment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSBdJAHvcas

The product feel is snug without compromising agility. Take the time to review the videos that pertain to the product and order the hanger! The hanger simplifies storage 100-fold. The best part (for me) is the fact that the product is made in the U.S. Tough to find that in our current economy. Make the decision and support local by keeping those dollars in circulation locally and nationally for as long as possible!

I have been a long time customer of weightvest.com and have several of them–all V-Force. My current purchase is a Short 40 lb V-Force Wide Shoulder which I will use for Step Ups on a Plyobox. I also have a Long 75 lb V-Force Wide Shoulder used for the same purpose. I have several other Narrow Shoulder Vests set at different weights for different exercises including anchoring my body for a home built pulldown pulley system. I own a lot of equipment and am extremely particular where I spend my money. Weightvest.com has been around for decades and are always rated as the number one weight vest in regards to built quality. I can attest to this fact. They offer a range all the way from the lightest weight to the heaviest (within reason!!), narrow and wide shoulder, short and long length. No other company I have ever seen offers all of these options with the same level of build quality which is impeccable. I am getting ready to buy another Long 75 lb vests for weighted squats and lunges. This allows me to set my second vest at a different weight for convenience. One may ask why I own so many vests. When I find a company that makes it a point to do their very best at offering the best quality, I support that company knowing I will not be disappointed. I recommend always purchasing the Hanger for your vest and if it is heavier to buy the Heavy Duty Hanger especially for the Lifetime Warranty. In my case the following does not apply since I own 5 vests (soon to be 6). The odd weight vests have one advantage in balancing the weight from front to back and keeping the weight equally divided from left to right side. Also, heavier vests allow one to have more weight option. In the case of a 40 lb vests it is best to have the offset lower due to the angle of torque from a physics stand point. So for a 35 lb vest one would remove one 2 1/2 lb plate from the front and one 2 1/2 lb plate from the rear. These would be removed from the lowest row with one being on the left side and one being on the right side. The reason for using the lower row is that the weight offset is further from the shoulders and neck. With the 40 lb vest using the above procedure one will achieve optimal use of this vests and not feel any difference between front/back and left/right side of the body. I hope this helps you maximize the comfort of wearing this fine product. This company deserves a *****+++ rating. Purchase without reservation!!!
