Women's narrow vests shoulders are perfect for all exercises
I purchased the 20lb vest and had spent a while researching before deciding on this one. I really like that it is woman friendly with the front design, as I didn't want something super constricting. My only complaint is that I'd like to do ab workouts with it on but due to the type of weights (bulky), laying on the ground isn't the most comfortable. I also would've liked an adjustable strap around the shoulders seeing as I'm smaller build and still have some extra room up there even though the rest of the vest fits perfectly.
All in all, I've really enjoyed this product and it's helped me take mediocre workouts to a new level. I'm using it to get ready for firefighter training :)
Thanks for an awesome product!
After the CA Stay at Home Order went into effect, my local gym closed and I was looking for ways to stay active and strong since I'm used to high intensity workouts. I did a lot of research on weighted vests and this by far had the best reviews; especially since the fit is geared towards a women’s frame. I've been using my vest for strength training, walks, hikes, and house chores, and I already recommended it to another friend. I am extremely happy with this vest and it fits perfect for my frame (5'6 - 130lbs.).
I am 5'2" and 112lbs and the vest fits perfectly. Well constructed. Easy to adjust and obtain a snug fit. I am happy that the vest sits high enough that I can still wear a waist belt water bottle holder without any trouble. There is no chafing or rubbing, I am wearing a tank top or t-shirt beneath it. I have been wearing it for 1-2hrs three times/week.
I wanted to add intensity to my hiking/ climbing workouts, as I can't add more time, and this is working perfectly. I used 5lbs the first 2 weeks, then 7.5lbs the next 2 weeks. I put 2 of the weights in the back and one in the front for the 7.5lbs, and did not feel uneven at all. You can add or subtract weights easily. Yes it feels a bit bulky, and I personally can't imagine running in it though I see from other reviewers that they do so without any trouble:). I'll now be moving up to 10lbs:).
Very comfortable, well constructed, quality material.
Only giving it 4-star because I'm working with 15-lb on right now so I took 3 out of the 8 cast iron out working with odd number cast iron weights and make the vest uneven.
I bought this weight vest after an exhausting search for a vest that would help with osteoporosis. I am small framed, about 120 Lbs and it fits comfortably. I started with 10 lbs and am working up to 20. It balances across the shoulders and I do not feel strain. Very happy with the product and construction. Despite looking like a bullet proof vest (or worse) it's a great fit for a woman. Highly recommended
I did a lot of research and searching before finally choosing a vest that would fit my needs. I Crossfit, and I wanted a vest that I could run with and do other movements that would stay in place, not put a huge drag on my shoulders, and not bruise my ribs from bouncing up and down on runs. This vest does everything I wanted - it fits very well, stays put, the weights are easy to add/remove, and most of all - I can run with good form and without pain! Plus it looks great (for a vest)!
Thanks for a great product!
I've been researching for a while now for a weight vest to "enhance" my running and workout sessions. My co-worker purchased her weight vest and said it was a must have. We are both very petite, I'm 5'00", 116lbs, and pretty athletic...I run half-marathons, weight lift, and my "free" off-training days involve cross-fit, TRX, and/or body weight workouts. At work, I wear a tactical vest regularly (LEO) and as I age (36-years young), I want to maintain my ability to run, jump, etc. with weight. I was apprehensive about a weight vest, because I have narrow shoulders and did not want a vest to sit on my shoulders causing rashes or bruises.
I decided to purchase just in time for to complete the Murph challenge and it was delivered right away. I was intimidated at first, because the reality of doing the "Murph" set in! I did not watch the video about how to do the straps, so I'll have to re-do my vest (I just wrapped around and went for it...) I put the vest on and immediately noticed the thick padding on my shoulders. I do not have a large bust (small C-cup), so it did not feel as though the weigh was squishing my chest area. I completed the Murph, and even during the 2 miles, the vest felt amazing. I felt as though I was being "hugged" and it did not bounce up and down on my shoulders. My waist is "average" and I had enough of the belt to make the perfect adjustment. By the end of the Murph the vest was covered in sweat, so I let it air dry with no issues.
I purchased the camo color, because my husband is retired Army and Purple Heart recipient, so I wanted to represent him in some fashion while I sweat.
I have incorporated the vest into my workouts and running to help with endurance and strength. If you're a woman looking for a vest, this is a definite must.
Once again great construction, great materials. We now have three of these vests and I cannot speak more highly of them. If you're looking for a weight vest you need this one.
I spent a few hours reading reviews of weight vests and was on the verge of buying several different ones that were significantly less expensive than the 20lb VMAX I ultimately purchased. What decided it for me, ultimately, were the warnings about leaking sand -- warnings that plagued the reviews of even the top rated vests. I was also worried about sizing: I'm about 5'2, and while I'm reasonably fit, I'm hardly all muscle. And I was worried about getting the best bang for my buck. I wanted something to walk in, not run in, and I was concerned that 20lbs would provide too little resistance. This weight vest, which I've now been using regularly since I got it 3 weeks ago, has really pleased and impressed me. I wear it around the house, during light hand weight sessions, and for walks with my dog. And I've only used it with half the available (IRON!) weights. I've discovered that that's all I can manage for up to an hour's time in it, which means that it gives me lots of room to grow and get stronger. Although I have one suggestion re the fit (see below), it nevertheless is comfortably snug across my waist and keeps the weight off my shoulders.
1. I got the dark grey, thinking it would be a pleasing neutral color that avoids this looking like a bullet proof vest (or worst), but the dark grey reads dark teal, which I don't really like but at the end of the day, really doesn't matter.
2. The fit is great, but only because the waist belt has such terrific velcro. I'm not a tiny woman, but if it weren't for the velcro, the buckle would end up leaving about 1" of space between me and the vest, which would result in my shoulders bearing the weight of the vest.
3. There were no instructions inside the box, and the video describing how to fit the vest to your body doesn't match the vest as it came out of the box. The vest came out of the box with one of the belts already fastened to the velcro on the back. The video shows it as a separate piece. It took me a few minutes to realize this, which was a little annoying and unnecessary.
That said, I reached someone by phone immediately when I called, confused about the color and the straps. That was very helpful.
